Who thought running through platform mazes with a green rabbit could be fun? I didn

The game features a green rabbit named Jazz who has to save the rabbit princess Eva Earlong from the goofy but powerful tortoise, Devan Shell. Why stories in platform games always involve kidnapped princesses is a good question.

Anyway once the story is out of the way the playing begins. There are several levels with different environments, enemies and toughness. For example you will play in snow, strange science labs, jungles and much more. Each level has their own enemies, for example the science lab has the mice and so on. The game features about 35 different enemies, impressing.

The levels get tougher and tougher, on some levels you really have to think and some you just run through them like Sonic the Hedgehog. This mixture of speed and thinking really suits me and I think that Epic really have done a great job here.

It’s hard to get tired of Jazz Jack Rabbit 2 since the levels are so different from each other. Some levels features bosses at the end of them that requires a little more of the player. The first bosses aren’t that hard to beat but as the game progress you will get into serious trouble sometimes.

Jazz knows some stunts, for example he can spin his ears and fly like a helicopter (at least for a couple of seconds). Other than that the game is much about the different weapons, there are about 12 in the game. My personal favourite is the homing missile that homes in on the closest enemy. Other weapons that you can play with are the flamethrower, TNT, Freeze Gun among others.

During the game you collect different kinds of bonuses, for example carrots give you more lives and gems gives you more points. There are also coins which you collect at each level, they eventually makes it possible for you to get a little bonus.

Listening to the music in the game is a breeze. Each level features it’s own kind of music and most of the tracks are pretty good. Credits to the menu screen music, which is great.

When you play Jazz Jackrabbit 2 you really notice that Epic have developed a very extensive games which at least takes a couple of days of going through. The game is so diverse that you never feel fed up with it, each level gives the player something new to explore.

If you haven’t played this game already now is the time to do it. At least take the time to try the shareware version, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 leaves no one disappointed.
