Save Mars and their lovely donuts in this arcade shooter form Addictive 247.

The story in Donuts in Danger is tiny but very entertaining. Martians are making the best donuts in the universe, unfortunately the evil Cube-Clan loves donuts and will do anything to get their hands on Mars and its donuts. Of course you have to stop them.

Donuts in Danger is similar to the arcade classic Space Invaders .Your  ship is moved horizontally while firing at boxes and other enemies moving back and forth.   As you take the enemies out you will get a number of credits. The credits can be used to increase your fire-speed, gun-power, gun-speed or purchasing other types of power-ups.  It is not possible to save your way through the game since you have to purchase each save-game for 50 credits.

The graphics in Donuts in Danger are not as awesome as they could have been. It is noticeable that the game lacks nice transparent explosions that we are used to in many other indie arcade games. The enemy also looks kind of static and non-threatening, what can a bunch of cubes really accomplish? To me Martians seems more bad-ass than a bunch of cubes from some remote planet.

Donuts in Danger features very good game-play. The game starts off easy with straight-forward levels, when you reach the one of the four bosses in the game things gets messy and harder. Just like it should be in any arcade shooter.  Addictive 247 have managed to summon that nostalgic arcade shooter feeling that I last felt when playing Darius Gaiden years ago. It’s a lot of firing and fast reflexes are required.

The game is pretty extensive for just $12.95 you get 45 levels, but the levels are maybe to similar. However considering the latest games with 11 levels from the big guys Donuts in Dangers feels pretty long, and you don’t feel that you have wasted any money.

The sound-effects in Donuts in Danger will not knock you off your chair. When firing your powerful gun all you hear is a tiny rumble. The soundtrack is catchy but Addictive 247 should have made more tracks.

Donuts in Dangers is great fun to play, it’s easy to learn and lasts long. The graphics and sound effects could have been a lot better.  It’s a game that doesn’t disappoint, sort of like the solitaire in Windows. You know what will happen and the chances of being surprised are slim. It would be nice to see some new twists in the jungle of arcade shooters.
