Sim Gangster is definitely not for kids, but does it have some entertainment value for adults? Read our review and find out.

In Sim Gangster you begin as a small time punk and your ultimate goal is becoming a full mob leader. The whole game is actually built around numbers, I know it doesn’t sound like it, but it’s the truth.

To plan your crime sprees you use a calendar, which pretty much looks like the one in Outlook. Before each day starts you add your tasks, for example robbing students, trashing stores and businesses, chilling with ladies, music or doing drugs.

After you have added the items to your calendar you start the day. The events unfold as a story on the screen that is there is no graphical violence. Each day you get a report. The report card includes how much cash you have made, your levels (more about it below), your skills, weapons and overall rating. If you do really well you get a star, it’s your goal to get five stars but this takes some time to get.

You also have a number of personal stats, different levels for IQ, Mojo, Health, Karma, Respect, Narcotics and how Wanted you are by the law. The player also have a number of skill points, you can get points in stealth, killing, violence, escape, burglary and so on.

After you have made some cash you can buy weapons, such as shotguns and handguns. The weapons makes your tasks go more smooth, but can also increase your wanted level rapidly.

Sim Gangster has no real graphics, just a bunch of numbers and statistics. Overall the game is humours in the beginning but after a while it gets boring. I can imagine that the game won’t be greeted well in some communities and by some people, and that’s understandable at some points.

There are a lot of better games with statistics and numbers, especially stock games where you actually learn something. We have also seen similar crime games for a while now and I can’t see how Sim Gangster is much different. However the game do present some original features. Recommended minimum age should be about 16-18 years.
