Yet another space game, soon there will be more games about space than earth.  In Supernova: Galatic Wars from Winterwolves two factions, the evil Red Legion and the Blue Army are warring for the space.

What strikes you directly when you start the game is the quality. You have a good intro, with two really nice modelled characters, Tanja the Red Legion leader and the Great Council, leaders of the Blue Army.

There are two modes to play in the game. One is the story mode, where you go through a campaign with a developing story. The other one is the quickbattle mode, here you can create your own battle with a custom map and choose the number of units.

The story mode is really engaging and its always nice having a developing story. In my opinion every quality game should have a developing story during the game. It gives so much to the player.

When playing you will notice that Winterwolves have mixed two types of space battle games into one. The player has to make strategic decisions similar to games like Star General but when the battle heats up the game enters an arcade mode where you dogfight with enemy ships.

This system is really nice and innovative. You dont get bored as you sometimes get in slow moving strategy games and you cant complain that you have no control over the strategic issues.

During the game you can buy new ships and repair ships. There are about 20 different ships with 26 different weapons, so there is some diversity. If the developers wanted they could easily enhance the strategy side of the game by implementing a resource gathering system, this would make the game similar to Masters of Orion.

The soundtrack in the game is ok, however I would have wanted some more diversity. Honestly the music during the dogfights isnt really that engaging and is more of a background noise.

Supernova combines strategy and actions in a nice package with lots of replay value. This game is definitely one of the better games we have tested so far.
