This game was brought to our attention by one of our visitors. Little Fighter 2 is what you might expect, little characters (Japanese Manga) fighting. The game is very violent as you can expect in any fighting game.

What took me by surprise is the extensive amount of characters the player can choose to play. All of them have their own characteristics, features and special weapons and attacks. There are also a number of modes you can choose to play in, championship, vs-mode and a lot of others.

There are a lot of environments to fight in as well, which is nice. However some of them are not that great modelled. It’s especially one level I’m having in mind were the whole ground is colored in some purple color for no apparent reason.

I’m a bit puzzled over the loading screens in the game, you get messages by the little Manga dwarfs saying stuff like “Don’t do drugs” or “Protect your environment”. The thought is perhaps cute, but moments later they are killing each other. Also why would you like to put messages like that in a game? Design the game so it’s apparent that you shouldn’t do drugs instead.

During the fights items will drop down that you can use against your opponents, this can be weapons (sledgehammers and stuff) or it can be power-ups. There are a lot of items so you don’t get bored with to few items.

What might be mentioned as a bit nerving are the controls. You can configure them, which is good otherwise you wouldn’t survive. I can’t believe that the default control alternative is so complicated, when will developers start to use keys like CTRL and ALT again?

I really like the extensive amount of characters, environments and items in this game. It’s hard to believe that it’s Freeware, and this game really proves again that good games can be Freeware as well. However I must say that I’m not entirely happy with the level design, the strange messages during the loading process and the default controls.
