Itís time to take over the world in Syndicate from former software gurus Bullfrog. The game saw the light of day in 1993 but is set in year 2096. You are a middle executive in a syndicate set to simply control the world. The player has to plan the organizations dirty work and execute it.

Of course there are several forces battling your syndicate, mainly other syndicates with the same agenda as you. But you will also encounter the police and different security guards.

To your help you have four agents; they are not humans but cyborgs (as usual in the future).

The game is seen from an isometric perspective and the graphics arenít that bad, even with todayís standards. All right it isnít Halflife 2 but it isnít hideous either. All events in Syndicate happen in real time, so itís basically like playing those nifty RTS strategy games.

Syndicate has a lot of depth, and interactions. Since all battles take place in cities you will encounter a lot of civilians, cars (which sometimes drive you over), advertising and everything else that a city offers.

As the game progress you can research new weapons, parts and other material. You decide what to research, how much money you will put into it and thereby how long it will take.

The weapons in the game are everything from pistols to flamethrowers. Bullfrog has put a lot of effort into the details of the weapons, the shotgun has a shorter range than for example the pistol or Uzi, but it makes more damage.

Apart from weapons you can equip your agents with new parts. For example new legs makes them run faster or why not a new brain so they react faster. If you think your agents are too lazy you can give them some drugs, the only problem with that is that they will get drug addicted and you will have to buy them more and more.

If Iím going to complain about something itís the isometric perspective. Itís great sometimes, and sometimes you donít know whatís going on. For example you donít see behind buildings, so sometimes itís hard to orientate even with the map. Inside buildings you donít know whatís going on either, so you have to navigate using the map.

Syndicate is a true classic, it ha some minor flaws but itís so fun that you simply canít stop playing it. It might be brutal and violent, but it has so much depth that I love it.
