Sachi's Quest Released Print E-mail

Graphic designer and independent software developer Chris O'Connell has announced his largely one-man project, "Sachi’s Quest", a 3D game for Windows 2000 and Windows XP is now available.

Sachi Quest is a first-person adventure that allows a player to take on the roll of "Sachi", a female agent who fights oppressive aliens in a very dark future. Players will experience several interactive chapters, each taking place on different worlds, leading to a final battle on an alien-conquered Earth. Along the way, the player discovers and uses various weapons and equipment to help aid in surviving the adventures on each world.

Sachi's Quest is available for $19.95 and can be purchased online via CD or download. A free demo version of the game, featuring only the first three chapters can be downloaded here.

Shoot First Games announced the release of Drug Overlord, a shooting / strategy game that mixes real time action with real time strategy. The government is trying to shut down the futuristic fun farm and they’ve brought all kinds of nasty weapons to kill your crops. Alien Shooter 2 Announced Print E-mail

Sigma Team announced the unveiling of a pre-release demo version of Alien Shooter 2, a large-scale sequel to a highly acclaimed action shooter with RPG elements. In the new game you will be slashing Aliens as usual, but Sigma Team also focused on enhancing the game's visuals and adding variety to the gameplay.

New improvements are dynamic shadows, lightning, and a simulation of natural phenomena like fog, rain and water. Players will also discover an improved arsenal that now includes over 50 types of advanced weapons.

Memorial Fundraiser: Buy a game and support the Carter Center Print E-mail

In honor of Memorial Day, Sillysoft Games (www.sillysoft.net) is holding a charity fundraiser. 100 percent of the proceeds from the computer game American History Lux from now until Friday, June 2nd will be donated to charity. Specifically to the Carter Center (www.cartercenter.org), which seeks to "wage peace, fight disease, and build hope."

American History Lux is a new strategy game that takes players through the history of the ten wars that have most shaped America. Each war comes as a map containing the real geographical layout marking the important cities, forts, and regions of the conflict. It's available to download now for PC, Macintosh, and Linux.

US PC Games Market worth $1.4 Billion 2005 Print E-mail

According to a report released by the NPD group the total US PC Games market were worth $1.4 billion 2005. Subscription based PC Games (such as World of Warcraft) accounted for $292 million of the market, while games from online gaming sites hit $52 million. Digital downloads of games accounted for $42 million, according to the NPD group.

3D Realms has finally announced a demo date for their long awaited first person shooter Prey. A demo of five levels will be uploaded to the 3D Realms website on 22nd June according to the company’s website.

 
Microsoft updates Windows Vista page Print E-mail

Microsoft today updated their ”Get Ready for Windows Vista” page. According to the software giant a computer with a Pentium 800 MHz and 512 MB RAM and a Direct X 9 graphics processor are the minimum requirement to run the upcoming Vista.

A number of new versions of Vista has also been revealed, the new versions will be; Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate (all the features put together in one package).

Microsoft also mentions a lot on the Windows Vista page about how the new Windows will change our experience when it comes to home entertainment and TV. Vista is scheduled to be released in 2007.
